Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has got to be the most beautiful handset showcased at MWC 2015, a fact that was also confirmed by an award of two. Well, after debuting on March 1st in Barcelona, the handset has now arrived right here at GSMDome.com, for testing. Below you can watch its unboxing.
We’re dealing with the dual curved edge screen version of the Galaxy S6, that will be sold from April and priced at around 849 euros. This model comes in white, black, gold or green and its box is compact and small like the one of a Galaxy A unit. Inside we find the charger, USB cable, manual, headphones, headphone plugs and small metal key to prop open the nano SIM card slot.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge measures 7 mm in thickness, weighs 132 grams and features the bulk of the specs of the Galaxy S6. It includes the 5.1 inch Super AMOLED Quad HD screen and it curves its edges a little, giving the user extra space for notifications, news and weather. Those can be viewed on the sides of the screen when the display is off.
We’ve got a glass back and front, a fingerprint scanner on board and a heart rate sensor. The 16 megapixel back camera with OIS and protruding part is kept, as well as the 5 MP front cam. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge runs Android 5.0.2 with TouchWiz on top, in a very fluid and Material Design-influenced version. This product doesn’t have a microSD card slot or a removable battery and it opts for a battery capacity of 2600 mAh.
There’s 32 GB of storage inside, 64 GB or 128 GB, depending on the version you’re buying. This model supports wireless charging, has a barometer, accelerometer, LTE, WiFi dual band and infrared. The curved edges make it look more compact and elegant and increase the premium level of the unit, but also tend to make it more fragile, in my book.
We’ll be back soon with a detailed review!
