Ericsson has recently demonstrated its new mobile broadband technology, HSPA Evolution through a test that involved a connection with a 42Mbps speed. The demonstration took place near Stockholm and the download speed achieved was 41.5Mbps.
This is a premiere on a chipset made from commercially available products, but we’re far from reaching such a performance in the “real world”. The new “dual carrier” technology requires a software upgrade, but it also doubles the speeds for users of a mobile network. Thus, mobile carriers will deliver more data per base station.
