Verizon has just launched the eagerly awaited Droid handset made by Moto and below you can check out the launch experience, caught on camera in front of the Big Red’s NYC Store.

A plus for this device is the fact that Verizon will allow tethering on Motorola Droid, but the price for this service will be quite steep, reaching even $30 per month. While the people in the video above seem rather excited and happy about attending the launch of the Android 2.0 smartphone, the total public turn up was a disappointment, specially when compared to the likes of BlackBerry Storm or Palm Pre.

Is the cold the one to blame or the mysterious ads promoting the device?
