A clever hacker managed to strip Android 2.1 OS from the Nexus One handset and ported its features to Motorola Droid, allowing it to support multitouch. Frankly speaking, ever since the iPhone and Palm Pre, we haven’t seen multitouch smartphones handling touch interfacing so well.
Droid uses a cooked ROM, courtesy of the hack we’ve mentioned and, as you can see in the video above, pinch zooming works perfectly. Everyone’s dreaming about multitouch and we’ve even seen an experiment of this technology on the T-Mobile G1 and some dude working on it for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.
The developer of the Moto Droid multitouch hack accepts donations and I think he deserves them, considering the work he’s done.
