A couple of days ago we found out that Android will also hit an OpenMoko device and in case you’re not familiar with this name, it’s the first open source phone we’re talking about. Although the handset is not good looking at all, this is a promising initiative, specially if it uses and develops the Android OS. Here’s Google’s mobile operating system working on an OpenMoko device:
The specs of the new handset include a 400/500 MHz Samsung 2442B processor/SOC (400 minimum, AMR920T core, ARMv4T), 128 MB SDRAM, 64 MB CPU internal and 64 MB external. Also, the OpenMoko phone running Android will use a 2.84 inches display with a 480 x 640 pixels resolution, an accelerometer, GPS (or A-GPS) and two “hard” buttons.
This Freerunner follow-up will support WiFi 802.11 b/g, GSM/GPRS, 850/1800/1900 or 900/1800/1900 MHz connectivity and Bluetooth. It’ll weigh 133 grams with an internal Li-Ion or Li-Polymer battery included and it will measure 120.7 x 62 x 18.5 mm.
