The ex-Sprint exclusive handset we know as Palm Pre is getting ready to switch carriers and after Verizon started offering Pre Plus, AT&T is now gearing up to launch the Pre. The info comes from Information Week and we also learn that this caused Palm’s stock to rise on Thursday.

Apparently, AT&T will get the Pre in May, but there’s a pretty interesting background story you have to know: Pre and Pixi, the Verizon versions haven’t recorded a great deal of sales. Thus, Palm might be hoping that the AT&T deal will boost its WebOS platform popularity.

Would you give the AT&T Pre a go?
