A bunch of Symbian^4 screenshots have just appeared online, courtesy of Scott Weiss, UI Technology Manager at Symbian Foundation. These images were published to the My Nokia Blog first and videos should also be available soon on Symbian’s website.

Weiss claims that Symbian^4 brings a lot of innovations, like the menu bar, persistent back button and toolbar, plus a few more. Many of these should already be available in Symbian^3, including stuff like multiple home pages and the option of customizing each home screen page with its very own wallpaper.

Symbian^4 requires a pretty decent set of 3D hardware to run, so a mid end smartphone won’t cut it. Also, this new platform version requires a touchscreen-only device and we’re really glad to see Symbian Foundation advancing and evolving, as do their products.
