A recent article in the Wall Street Journal includes an interview with Steve Jobs, where he talks about Flash technology, the eternal topic discussed by iPhone and iPad haters. The CEO has some harsh words for the likes of Adobe, criticizing their technology for eating up the iPhone and iPad’s battery life.
The Flash player uses a too high amount of CPU, according to Jobs and it’s also supposed to be the source of security problems on the web. Apple’s main man mentions that the Cupertino giant does not want to waste energy on technologies that are… “dead”. Incredible as it may seem, Flash Player implementation on the iPad would take down its battery life from 10 hours to 1.5 hours.
There’s always the alternative of the HTML5 technology, plus H.264 video encoding and support for JavaScript, in order to perform conversions easily.
