We’re still gathering bits and pieces of info from last week’s MWC 2010 event and we’ve uncovered some hands on action with Synaptics’ Fuse concept phone. This prototype relies on sensor technologies to implement alternative means of handset control and input.

Synaptics Fuse comes with a capacitive touchscreen display, plus accelerometers, a rear panel trackpad and pressure sensors placed on the side. Thus, you’ll squeeze the device in order to interact with it, but you’ll also be able to tilt it up and down in order to scroll through the menus.

Squeezing the phone quickly takes you from the current up to the homescreen, while running a finger across the trackkpad will make the icons bulge to show where you’re touching. Haptic feedback is also on board, as well as 3D icons, that tumble when you tilt the phone.

The main flaw of this concept is that it incorporates too many sensors, so if you’re not careful, you might be performing actions by mistake while actually holding the phone and doing nothing. We suppose that such problems will be solved till the device makes it into production, but till then you can have a look at the video below, showing the Fuse in action:
