LG just announced the eco-friendly Remarq handset this week at CTIA and we’ve already found out that Engadget had some time alone with the device. A hands on video resulted and some pretty neat images, that you can see right here:
This is a very small gadget, specially with the sliding part closed and we have to mention that Remarq’s packaging is made from 87% post-consumer materials, while the device uses 19% recovered plastic. LG Remarq continues to be eco-friendly even in the software section, by including an app that tracks the user’s carbon footprint.
The software is pretty fun to use, specially since it rewards the user with virtual shrubs and trees, based on the fact that he’s walking instead of driving. LG’s new “green” handset is a CDMA dual band unit, packing a 900 mAh battery, a 1.3 megapixel camera, a 320 x 240 pixel TFT display and a full QWERTY keyboard.
