The iPad had a tough debut, once it started getting banned in Israel and some universities in the US. The reason was that either it didn’t fit the country’s wireless standards, or it would take down the universities’ wireless networks.

Over the past 2 weeks, iPad units had to be left at customs, when entering Israel, because the tablets don’t use wireless standards matching the one in the country. We have to mention that Israel uses European standards, so iPad versions with EU specs will fit the bill.

You’ll be happy to know that the ban is now gone, after some Israeli computer users expressed their opposition versus the restriction.
