HTC has just recently announced the launch of the “Romanian Android Challenge”, a local competition meant for developers interested in creating Android apps. Those interested can register their apps in the competition till May 31st, but their software must be new and not published on the web before.

The big winner of the competition takes home 3000 euros, while the second place gets EUR 2000 and the third EUR 1000. You can enter the competition by registering on the challenge’s site and entering your app in one of these 5 categories: Lifestyle, Tools, Media, Social Networking and Games. The apps must be free, they must include a Romanian version and they mustn’t be available on the Android Market.

Said competition’s jury will include a group of telecom specialists, business men and Android community members. There’s also a public’s choice round, where anyone can vote his or her favourite application. The jury will take into account the originality of the software, the use of Android technology opportunities, the user-friendly design and the applicability for the local market.

The dev who creates the app most loved by the public will get a HTC Desire handset as an award.
