Verizon’s CEO has just confirmed that Google is indeed making a tablet, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. Details regarding the device have yet to be revealed, so we have no idea who manufactures the slate, what OS it’ll run and a price or launch date for it.

The Google Tablet might run Android or Chrome OS and its announcement doesn’t come as a surprise, since we knew from back in April that the search engine giant was working on such a device. This move is meant to increase the competition between Apple and Google, with the first company selling an impressive amount of iPad units (over 1 million in a month).

Now that Android OS has surpassed the iPhone on the US market, it’s time for Google’s tablet to do the same thing, while competing with the iPad.
