Risto Meskus, head of Nokia Romania has just announced that the company’s factory from Jucu will start manufacturing sophisticated handsets, evolving from the typical low end models. Initially, the Romanian factory was only intended for budget phones, but now it’s time to switch over to smartphones.
Risto Meskus replaced John Guery as head of Nokia Romania, with the former official being moved to Reynosa-Mexico. Meskus spoke to local newspapers about the economic depression, claiming that the factory is doing well, it’s working at full capacity and employing 4000 people.
Nokia Romania intends to buy the rented area it operates on, in the Tetarom Industrial Park and it’s now focused on sponsoring local schools and Universities.
