Smartphones are heading for the mainstream status and mobile apps have started receiving more and more downloads. Google pays its tribute to this trend, by now enabling its search engine to show links towards apps, ratings and their prices. Thus, you’ll be taken from Google.com straight to Apple’s App Store or the Android Market.

Starting today, if you visit Google.com on your iPhone or Android smartphone and search for a certain app, you’ll get special links and content displayed on top of the search results. These links can be tapped, taking you to the application store of your choice.

Price, rating and publisher will be shown in the search page, as proved by the screenshot above.
