Believe it or not, the Android 2.2 Froyo OS just got ported to the iPhone, to the jealousy of many Android 1.5 and 1.6 handset owners. Apparently, the coders and hackers have had quite a lot of work to do, in order for this port to work and you can see Froyo in action on the iPhone in the video below:
Of course, such an experiment comes with costs, like the fact that WiFi doesn’t work in this version and there’s no power management on the handset. This leads to overheating problems, after a couple of minutes of use and another issue is that one involving the handset’s GPU, that’s not recognized by Froyo yet, making the experience laggy every once in a while.
If you love your iPhone, you shouldn’t try to mess with it like this, but expect a more usable version of the port to come soon. Download link and instructions are available here.
