Some of you might know msft.guy, as the dude who fixed the blacksn0w unlock for iPhone 3.1.3 05.11.07 baseband… Well, now he’s back to work posting PwnageTool bundles for iPhone 3GS, the iOS 4 GM release, used to jailbreak the 3GS iPhone, while preserving the baseband, so you can unlock the device via ultrasn0w or blacksn0w.
msft.guy mentions that Cydia must be updated and OpenSSH and OpenSSL must be added. Unless you’re an advanced user or you know your iPhone well, you should stay away from this jailbreak method. Meanwhile, we learn that the iPhone Dev Team promised to release a full jailbreak and unlock for iOS 4 this month, but overall, you should wait for the official PwnageTool 4.0 before messing with your handset.
iPhone OS 3.1.3 users can follow step by step guides to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS, with Spirit, the iPod Touch 3G with untethered jailbreak and the iPad on OS 3.2 over here. Unlocking is done through ultrasn0w or blacksn0w.
