In case you want to have a look at Nokia and Intel’s piece of work, there’s a video below, showcasing the great features of MeeGo 1.1. This OS runs on an Aava prototype and it seems we’re getting pretty close to a final version.
The prototype we mentioned comes with a 1.5GHz Intel chipset, an x86 chip, not the ARM one we’re accustomed to. As you can see, the platform needs a bit of work, before the final release and apps aren’t yet available for testing on it, but we can check out the menus and interface. MeeGo 1.1 works on Nokia N900, but it’ll reveal its true potential on the upcoming Nokia N9 smartphone, that’s yet to be announced.
This version of MeeGo comes with the Firefox Mobile browser, APIs, a touch friendly UI, Bluetooth, 3G connection support, notifications and an interesting lock screen feature. The virtual keyboard can also be seen in action.
