As some unlucky owners are trying to turn their iPhone 4 units into working phones, others are more into experiments, like the one shown below. This one turns the new iPhone into a DSLR of some sort, thanks to the OWLE Bubo accessory. This DIY effort involves a camera mount and a Canon EF 50mm f1.8 lens, for great performance.

A static EnCinema 35mm Adapter was also involved, albeit with a couple of tweaks and the iPhone required the app Almost DSLR to make the experiment work. The result is impressive and OWLE claims that things will only get better as they progress with the product, before release.

The OWLE Bubo mount for the iPhone 3GS goes for $129.99, but we have no info on the iPhone 4 version. Here’s the DSLR action below:
