Believe it or not it’ll be a hard time deciding which upcoming Samsung smartphone we love more: the Nexus S or the Galaxy S2? As far as the latter is concerned, we’ve just learned that its firmware has been leaked and XDA Developers is already checking it out. Nothing has come out yet, but odds are that this is in fact the Nexus S firmware.

We’ve yet to confirm that the Galaxy S2 and the Nexus S are one and the same device, but it would be cool if they were separate versions. There’s also a third option, with the Galaxy S2 being to the Nexus S what HTC Desire was to the Nexus One: a twin brother with minor modifications. Till we get everything straight, let’s have a look at the reviewed specs list for Galaxy S2:

  • Display: 4.3 inch Super AMOLED, 340ppi pixel density, 1280 x 720
  • CPU: 2GHz (rumors say dual core 1GHz)
  • Memory: 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM, 32GB internal memory
  • Camera: 8MP, HD video recording (1080p)
  • OS: Android 2.3/3.0

These are incredible specs, far more impressive than what Nexus S has revealed so far, specially the 2GHz CPU part. Apparently, this device is supposed to debut early next year, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
