After launching the appealing PlayBook dual-core tablet, RIM also confirmed that dual-core BlackBerry handsets are in the making. The news comes from the company’s co-CEO Mike Lazaridis, in spite of the lack of BlackBerry-branded units at CES 2011.
Lazaridis explained to PC Mag that the Canadian giant is working on multi-core smartphones, also focusing on the QNX platform, the OS of choice for PlayBook. He also claims that multi-core tablets are in development, possibly follow-ups for RIM’s company.
The same RIM official explained that dual-core smartphone can’t be released right now because they’re still working on battery life, size, weight and cost, before the products are finalized. Should we expect BlackBerry goodies this summer?
