Welcome to the duel of the giants: one’s the first dual core smartphone on the market and the other is the thinnest handset in the world. You might have guessed that we’re talking about LG Optimus 2X and Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, shown below and put to the comparison test by Engadget.
Both handsets will rock next week at MWC 2011, but till then we can see them compared in the video below. Arc is part of a triplet that will make people at Mobile World Congress ignore other brands and we’re talking here about the PSP Phone aka Xperia Play, the Neo model and of course, Xperia Arc.
LG has a triplet of its own: LG Optimus 3D, LG Optimus Black and LG Optimus 2X, plus one or two more mysterious smartphones. Engadget admits that the Xperia Arc is superior to the LG dual core phone, as far as looks and feeling are concerned, as the Sony Ericsson product is more refined. It’s all in the curvature and the fact that this is REALLY a very thin handset. The weight is also very minimal and the display generous: 4.2 inch and backed by the Sony technology.
Optimus 2X is more appealing on the power side, with a dual core Tegra 2 core that is able to run anything anytime. This was only a comparison based on looks, so we await further side by side duels of the devices.
