There’s good news and bad news concerning the first dual core phone available on the market, T-Mobile G2x (LG Optimus 2X). Well, T-Mobile is saying that the handset will receive Gingerbread sooner than we’d expect, but they also admit that the smartphone is not a quadband HSPA+ phone.
It’s strange to hear that the G2x only supports 3G bands I and IV (2100 and 1700MHz), in spite of being advertised as a HSPA+ quadband handset. Engadget was previously claiming that it had trouble connecting an unlocked version to AT&T’s 3G network, so this may have started the curiosity regarding the features of the phone, connectivity-wise.
All in all, this is a still the very first dual core phone in the world, so it deserves some attention.
