A source familiar with the matter is reporting that Apple has purchased between 200 and 300 glass cutting machines, possibly in order to produce a new kind of display for the next gen iPhone. Supposedly, these machines will help create a curved glass screen for the new device.
AppleInsider reminds us that this wouldn’t be the first curved glass smartphone, since the Nexus S also adopted this concept, back from last December. The handset features a 400 x 800 pixel contoured display that was curved in order to fit the palm and face of the user, also giving the impression that its diagonal is smaller than 4 inches.
Other rumors about the iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S say that we might see it in September, taking off with a flat metal back, dual core CPU and 8MP Sony camera. No info on whether or not it will come with NFC…
