The news of the week is certainly the buyout of Motorola by Google, but that doesn’t mean Moto is numb, especially with the new product they’ve just announced. I’m talking about the Motorola DEFY+, a rugged Android smartphone that’s been spotted before, in hands on pics and videos.
Rivaling the Samsung Galaxy Xcover, this handset runs Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread on top of a 1GHz CPU. Following the original Defy model, also a resilient handset, the new unit can face weather, dust and scratches without a hiccup. On board there’s also a 3.7 inch display with 854 x 480 pixel resolution and protected by Gorilla Glass technology.
There’s also a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, 2GB of internal storage and expandable memory of up to 32GB. You’ll get 7.1 hours of talk time from this baby and 16 days of standby functioning. Launch of the device is supposed to go down this fall, at least in Europe, Asia and Latin America. No info about the US debut…
