The stylus input has never been one of the major focuses of Android till now, although the HTC Flyer has been quite good in that section, but all the software was made by HTC at that time. Now the stylus support will arrive to all compatible devices courtesy of Android 4.0, that takes care of this aspect.
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was announced this week in Hong Kong and it will be rolled out in the following months to tablets and smartphones. There are many appealing models out there with stylus input, such as the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet, the ASUS Eee Pad MeMo and the HTC Flyer. Now other manufacturers can get on board with such accessories thanks to the new Android version.
Up until now Android didn’t support this input method and simply relied on finger interaction. There’s still no handwriting recognition, but at least the OS can recognize degrees of pressure from a stylus, aiding developers to write drawing and writing apps relying on that function. Maybe we’ll soon see a budget tablet that actually works like a Wacom device replacement and delivers a solid drawing experience through Android 4.0…
