We’ve been hearing a lot about battery problems in the iOS universe lately and it seems that the iPhone 4S is not the culprit here, but rather iOS 5. Apple seems to have admitted to these issues and now they promise a fix for the issues, coming with the next iOS update.

I’m talking about iOS 5.0.1, that already has part of its changelog available and it’s promised to arrive in the next weeks. The Cupertino giant mentioned that “a small number of customers” were unhappy with the performance of their devices’ battery and this statement was made to AllThingsD, so it’s as official as it gets. Apple also claims that it found some bugs that affect the battery life and promised to remediate them ASAP.

Sadly, we have no idea what these bugs are, although we’ve heard that the iPhone 4S uses up a lot of battery when it tries to set the proper Time Zone, so that’s one of the causes of major battery draining. As far as iOS 5.0.1 goes, the software is expected to bring multitasking gestures for the original iPad, Documents in the Cloud bug fixes, improved voice recognition for Australian users using dictation and security enhancements.
