Famous developer and hacker MuscleNerd announced on Twitter that Redsn0w 0.9.9b9 tethered jailbreak method has been released. He also gave the public a list of changes included in this version, that you can access in the source link below and start checking at point 17. Consider this as sort of a holiday season present, if you want.

He recommends that jailbreakers stay away from this one, until a new untethered JB is out. So, redsn0w brings native support for iOS 5.0.1 and support is extended to functions such as Jailbreak, Just Book, Fetch blobs, Stitch blobs and Recovery fix. There’s also a fix for iBooks in 5.0 and 5.0.1 versions, while 3GS old bootrom owners are now able to create custom IPSWs without blobs. Ultrasn0w compatibility update for 5.0.1 will hit Cydia today and this software also includes support for the newer 8GB iPhone 4 .

The list of features continues with the permission for Windows users to create IPSWs by using the Custom button without baseband updates. In case you’re wondering, no there’s no 5.1 beta support right now, so apps like Cydia are not yet compatible on this. Bonus, owners of the newer iPhone 3GS units won’t need to flash the iPad baseband. The baseband won’t work on 3GS iPhone built later than week 35 of 2011, remember that!
