LG has just posted on its website details about a new entry level model, the LG Optimus 2, that will apparently be showcased during MWC 2012. This phone’s specs remind me a lot of the HTC Wildfire S and a bit of the LG Optimus One. Basically the comparison between the LG Optimus One and the Optimus 2 is the same as the one between the HTC Wildfire and Wildfire S, if you want.
LG Optimus 2 brings forth a large 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen display, Android 2.3 Gingerbread as the OS, a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera with video recording and a 1,500 mAh battery. 5 customizable home screens are available and the Gingerbread experience seems to be the stock one, without any customization. I wonder if this model will suffer from the lag and blocking that sometimes appears on the HTC Wildfire S, that has a bit of a problem with memory management.
Powering this unit there’s an 800 MHz processor, a 200MHz increase from the Optimus One. You must know that this newcomer also sports GPS, Bluetooth 3.0 and a microSD card slot. This will most likely promoted as a budget-friendly alternative to smartphones and we’ll get more details at next week’s CES 2012 show.
