We’ve heard that Microsoft is ready to spend dozens of millions of dollars in a marketing push for Windows Phone and Nokia models, but why use up all the money on a single device? Such is the case with the Nokia Lumia 900 Ace, rumored to get an amazing marketing campaign worth $100 million. I can’t really say if the info is real or not, but it sure sounds like something MS would do…
This week we also had the opportunity to check out some rumored specs for Nokia Lumia 900 and some presumed render/mockup that compared it to the Lumia 800. The Nokia Ace features a 4.3 inch display, 8 megapixel camera, 1.4GHz processor and 512MB of RAM, nothing you haven’t seen on the Lumia 800 before, aside from the big diagonal. Lumia 900 is expected to run Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, or maybe even the Tango version, since it’s rumored to support LTE connectivity.
Everyone has been discussing an AT&T launch of this handset in the USA, so we expect a big part of that marketing effort to involve AT&T as well, not only Microsoft. Apparently, we’re supposed to expect a March debut for this handset, if everything goes well. AT&T wants to sell the product as a flagship unit and they’ll spare no money to promote it. Just for comparison’s sake Apple spent $691 million in marketing in 2010 alone… so imagine what it takes to make Windows Phone appealing here and Nokia appealing in the USA…
