HTC started the MWC 2012 presentation in Barcelona today focused on the One series of smartphones that it plans to deliver this year. Also, they talked a LOT about the imagining capacity of their new handsets. Honestly speaking, the camera was always a problem for HTC, so I’m glad to see that covered. So, meet the new models from the Taiwanese company: HTC One S, One V and One X, just like the rumors said.
CEO Peter Chou was very happy with the achievements in imaging that HTC achieved lately, especially on the One series. Know that the camera sensor now provides a f/2.0 aperture, meaning that it lets in more light than other handsets. HDR tech was also mentioned and the engineers at HTC have managed to find a way to take pics even in the worst lighting conditions. The shutter speed is as little as 0.7 seconds and autofocus takes a mere 0.2 seconds. Impressive? Maybe, but we’ll have to see for ourselves.
Sense 4.0 was also discussed a lot and we now know that it integrates Dropbox with 25 GB of storage, plus the ability to upload content instantly. Moving on to the new phones, HTC One V is a tribute to HTC Legend, as far as design goes. This model uses an aluminum unibody design, it runs Android 4.0 ICS and uses a 3.7 inch display with WVGA resolution. Other features include a 5 megapixel camera sensor, a 1GHz single core CPU, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. Q2 launch is what you should expect and a very affordable price range.
HTC One S is the prettiest of the bunch, with a thin waistline of 7.9mm and some reasonable specs. These include a dual core Snapdragon CPU, a 4.3 inch qHD display, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi b/g/n. There’s an 8 megapixel camera at the back, one that’s also shared by the HTC One X. Both models will launch in late March/early April with 25 GB of free Dropbox storage. As far as the One X goes, this high end model will come with LTE in some countries.
Originally, the HTC One X will use a quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, but there will also be a dual core Snapdragon s4 version, the same one with LTE. One X also uses a 4.7 inch 720p display, 1GB of RAM, 32B of ROM and an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p capture. An 1.3MP camera is at the front and Beats Audio is in the mix. Speaking of which, we now get Beats support in third party apps and other functions on the phone. We’ll be back with hands on and impressions from MWC!
