If you’re still a Gingerbread aficionado, know that you can still get your fix with an upgrade, through the custom CyanogenMod software. We’ve now reached version CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC1, that’s based on the Android 2.3.7 software and Cyanogen and co did a mea culpa, saying they know they delayed it for too long, but it was well worth it.
7.2 also brings a couple of backported features from Android 4.0 ICS and we’ve also got support for 20 new devices in comparison with 7.1, especially from LG and Sony Ericsson. New features also include predictive contact search in the phone dialer, bug fixes, like the problem with the vanishing SD card ringtones and more. The Changelog of this release, found here includes updated translations, WiFi fixes and a list of new devices that I mentioned, with LG Optimus Black, LG optimus 3D, Motorola Atrix and Sony Ericsson Xperia Live among them.
Samsung Galaxy S GSM devices had their emergency dialing fixed, a big deal if you ask me. Camera zooming issues were also solved, but more about that you’ll find in the source link below. As usual, feedback is welcome, either on the CyanogenMod site or right here in the comments area.
