It seems that Research in Motion is as generous as ever, so after handing out PlayBook units to people who want to create ported Android apps for it, the Canadians will now give prototype BlackBerry 10 smartphones to around 2,000 developers attending the BlackBerry 10 Jam conference. This one will run alongside the yearly BlackBerry World expo.
This event takes place in May, in case you’re wondering and RIM said that the prototypes will be running a tweaked PlayBook OS that helps developers design their apps for the BlackBery 10 smartphones. This prototype is not an early version of a phone that will be released on the market, but instead it will be a mere tool for development. This reference platform will be running the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha operating system. For those of you who are developers or aspiring to enter the coding business, know that BlackBerry 10 Jam takes place between May 1st and May 3rd, in Orlando, Florida.
In case you’re wondering, know that the first BlackBerry 10 smartphones will be sold starting this Fall, so there’s no rush. I expect developers to help this platform evolve into something decent, or at least a decent follow-up to the pretty good PlayBook experience…
