For those of you who don’t know, Evangelion is a very popular anime series in Japan (and not only), that also spawned some animation motion pictures and recently some remakes. Well, the phenomenon was recently turned into a handset for fans, the Sharp SH-06D NERV, pictured below.
Its interface borrows very much from the UIs used by the robots and gear in the anime show, while the back is very much like the face of an EVA Robot. Being a fan of this series, I have to say I always admired its producers for making it both childish and mature and blending in some philosophy, including tons of Nietzsche. The UI is fantastic for the handset here and I recommend you watch the video below for some solid gadget pr0n. As far as specs go, we’re dealing here with Android Gingerbread phone with a 4.5 inch 720p 3D phone and pretty much the same hardware as the Sharp Aquos SH-06D3D.
There’s also a 1.2 GHz dual core processor on board, an extendable antenna and on board you’ll find 3D versions of the Evangelion movies. Sadly, the device is only sold in Japan and a limited number will go on sale in June 2012… I wonder what the price will be for such a collectible item…
