We’ve told you about the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Droid RAZR units a while ago and we’re finally there! The Motorola Droid RAZR, the 7.1mm thick smartphone and its fatter cousin, the Droid RAZR MAXX have received Android 4.0 ICS via official means.
Numerous tips were posted online, showing that the update is live and can be manually installed on the devices. Verizon was also said to be pushing the update this Sunday, but they managed to roll it out earlier. Originally Moto promised to deliver the software in Q2 and they kept the promise… barely. In order to get the update, you need to go to Settings, then About and then System Settings. You’ll check for the update and will be prompted to download and install the fresh software.
What you get here is enabling the devices to work on global roaming, taking advantage of voice/data services in 220 countries all over the world. There will also be new versions of Backup Assistant Plus, Smartactions, video calling portal and Verizon’s Apps Store. Other enhancements include better stability, performance, faster browser, new camera UI, face unlock, swiping multitasking, enhanced email experience and more, shown in the video below:
