Oppo is famous for creating the very thin Oppo Finder handset, actually the thinnest smartphone in the world right now. This Chinese company now announced that they will be part of the huge recent wave of companies joining the Windows Phone 8 initiative. That wave includes Nokia, HTC, Samsung, Huawei, Acer, ZTE and Lenovo.
Not sure what Oppo will bring to the tablet, but if it’s thin cases, I’m open to appreciate that. Let’s be frank: the Windows Phone handsets haven’t been big on looks lately. And even those that looked decent were too bulky for their own good. A 7mm Windows Phone device would definitely be a game changer, allowing the handsets to finally be perceived as elegant and light devices. The list of WP8 partners is growing thicker by the day and I’m curios to see just how many models Samsung is willing to put out, for example.
Meanwhile, I guess that Chinese companies like Huawei, ZTE and Oppo will focus on midrange and lower end devices, with decent price tags and interesting designs.
