Now we can make sense of why HP was so cold when it came to Windows RT and rejected being a Microsoft partner on that. They may have been waiting out on Google and Android, as shown by an amazing recent leak, showing a HP Android smartphone called Bender in a benchmark. GLBenchmark test results show the handset hp bender with android 4.0 ICS on board.
Also, it claims it has a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor on board, which is great news. I sure hope that the Palm design will be re-used, since it had a lot of potential. With webOS pretty much gone now, Android is the only choice that makes sense. Android 4.0.4 is shown in the benchmark here and if everything goes right, the handset could even end up with Jelly Bean. Leaks also show a nice 1366 x 720 pixel resolution, which is great for a modern smartphone.
That’s all we know about the HP Bender right now, but I can bet it has 1 GB of RAM, at least an 8 megapixel camera and maybe some unique HP apps to set it apart from the competition. Of course, this could be a mere prototype, or maybe HP is making a device for some other company out there, who knows?
