Apple released the iPhone 2.2.1 software update yesterday without too much fuss, as it doesn’t add impressive new features to the famous handset. The classic fixes and minor enhancements are there, in the 246.4 MB package, but this update can’t be compared to the one in November, which brought Google Street View on our devices plus podcast download enhancement.

iPhone 2.2.1 improves Safari’s stability and solves an issue that prevented images saved from Mail to display in the Camera Roll. On the iPod Touch, the update fixes an issue that made the player skip the Apple Lossless audio files.

Too bad that push notifications aren’t supported yet, as this feature was considered ready to arrive on the iPhone any time now…
