Xperia Z is said to be both water and dust resistant and it’s also expected to have an Ingress Protection rating of IP55 and IP57, similar to models like the Xperia Acro S and Xperia V. Other things important to mention are the 7.9 mm thick chassis, 5 inch display with 1080p resolution and a PPI of 443. It’s also rumored that the newcomer will feature OptiContrast technology, that’s usually found on Sony TV sets, plus the Xperia V smartphone and Xperia Tablet S.

The OptiContrast thingie will give you a very crisp image and it appears that the screens will use a special resin layer that absorbs all diffused light from the backlight. Other rumored specs include a quad core CPU, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage and a 12 megapixel or 16 megapixel camera. Who’s excited about the flagship?
