Once again the East European brand Allview launches a handset, called Allview P5. This Romanian branded phone is a dual core dual SIM unit, that’s priced at around 200 euros and it runs Android 4.0.4. It was launched back in September and right now you could even find it for less than the original price. Let’s see what this product offers!
As far as design is concerned, we’re dealing with a combo between HTC One S and Samsung Galaxy S II, which is not a bad thing. The back side offers a decent grip and the handset measures 9.8 mm in thickness and weighs 134 grams. It has both a back and front camera and it uses capacitive buttons. There’s a metallic ring around the display, for extra elegance. Allview P5 Alldro features a 4.3 inch 480 x 800 pixel display, an IPS LCD with a 240 dpi pixel density.
The handset also uses One Glass Solution and Gorilla Glass for said screen, that’s able to show 16 million colors. Inside the phone we’ve got a dual core Cortex A9 processor at 1 GHz and a PowerVR SGX 531 processor, plus 4 GB of storage, of which 2 GB are user accessible. To that we add 512 MB of RAM, a microSD card slot, dual SIM slots with dual standby and GPS. You should know that while one of the SIMs is taking a call you can perform data transfer on the other one.
P5 Alldro also has a dual microphone with noise reduction and it provides a proximity sensor, compass, FM radio, an accelerometer, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps connectivity, DLNA and Bluetooth 3.0. At the back it has an 8 megapixel camera, while upfront there’s a VGA camera. Finally, the battery of this model is a Li-Ion 1800 mAh unit, good enough for about a day of standard use, or 4 hours of HD video playback. Or you could use it for 300 minutes of talk. On the audio side we’ve got a great Yamaha amplifier and on the video side, the device only does HD playback.
While the screen is bright, viewing angles are not that good. Moving on to the camera, this 8 MP sensor is inferior to the one on the Allview P4 Alldro, but at least we get HDR, a good one actually, 720p 30 FPS video capture, image stabilizer and face detection. Android 4.0.4 has the Berry UI customized on top of it, with a special set of icons and widgets making up various themes that you can apply. In benchmarks, we scored 2585 points in Quadrant, 5656 in AnTuTu, 1158 in Vellamo and 85.000 in the older Browsermark.
Overall this model shines through the audio quality, IPS screen, its design, dual SIM ability and personalization. The camera, weak GPU, not enough RAM and low resolution are the only things dragging it down. We give the handset an 8.56 out of 10, with the price being the biggest factor here.
