For those of you wondering why Android is eating so much out of the iOS market share, reasonable pricing may be the answer. We’ve got handsets and tablets going below the $200 mark with very good specs and even below the $100 in some cases. Today we’ve found a very interesting smartphone for $125.
In the Philippines and other emerging countries there’s a brand called Cherry Mobile that hands out such accessible handsets. This is a Philippine brand that rebrands Karbonn smartphones from India and they previously launched a $100 dual core 4 inch phone and then a 5 inch $110 phablet in January. This time they debuted a new smartphone for $125, one with a dual core CPU and a 4.5 inch display. It runs ICS and it’s available exclusively via online retailer Lazada.
The Cherry Mobile Thunder, as it’s known is a 4.5 inch smartphone with Android 4.0.4, a 1GHz dual core MediaTek processor and 4 GB of storage. It also has 512 MB of RAM, a microSD card slot, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, a 5 MP main camera and a VGA front cam. It supports a 480 x 854 pixel resolution, which gives out 218 PPI, better than the iPhone 3GS 163 ppi.
