It appears that not only Samsung is preparing to launch a waterproof and dust resistant version of the Galaxy S4… Sony have similar plans as well, with a supposed Xperia ZR model in the works, sharing lots of the features of the Xperia Z model.
I can’t really see why they would highlight the dust and waterproof abilities of the ZR model, since the Xperia Z is also pretty resilient to the elements as well. The folks of Xperiablog got the info that Sony was going to announce the Xperia ZR soon, packing a 720p display, a quad core CPU and a 13 megapixel camera.
The smartphone has a quad core 1.5 GHz processor (Snapdragon S4 Pro), 2 GB of RAM and a 13 megapixel Exmor RS camera. It’s also protected more than usual, with IP58 rating for resistance of 1.5 metres of water dunking for prolonged time and also dust. The screen on this device will have a 4.6 inch diagonal and the internal storage will be 8 GB,, while the battery will have a capacity of 2300 mAh. The shell will be similar to the Xperia Zl and not dual glass like the Xperia Z.
