Panasonic’s handsets aren’t that popular worldwide, but every once in a while a model comes along that actually deserves our time of day. Such is the case with the Panasonic P51, that just entered the Indian market.
This is an Android 4.2 device with a 5 inch screen and midrange specs, including a quad core 1.2 GHz MediaTek CPU, the most popular option right now on smartphones and tablets made by lesser known brands. Panasonic P51 supports a 720p resolution and bundles a stylus, so we tend to believe it’s a sort of smaller phablet. There’s also 1 GB of RAM on board and 4 GB of storage, with microSD card slot included, too.
At the rear there’s an 8 megapixel camera, while at the front a 1.3 MP shooter serves your selfies needs. The phone has dual SIM support, HSPA+ compatibility and it’s priced at $517, pretty hefty for the Indian market and any market actually. Of course, it’s cheaper than the Galaxy Note and you may want to know that this model shares design with the Alcatel Scribe Easy, that comes from Chinese company TCL.
