Back in February we found out that Samsung was going to stop working on Bada OS and focus on an initiative called Tizen OS. Some of the Bada features would make it to Tizen, so this OS would be compatible with Bada apps. Well, now things get more developed and we even spotted some pictures of a fresh handset made by Samsung with the new OS on board.

Last we heard, Samsung was preparing a Tizen phone for release in August or September this year. The handset you can see here is codenamed Redwood or GT-18800 and it appeared on the Greek Tizen community website Tizen.gr. The device comes with the likes of S Beam, S Voice and WiFi Direct, borrowed straight from the Galaxy lineup.

The handset is supposed to be released to 500 developers who are part of the Tizen Developer conference. This means it’s possible that we’re only dealing here with a development-only phone, one that won’t become commercially available. Its rumored specs include a 720p display and a 1.2 GHz dual core ARM chipset.
