Pantech has always been at the forefront of innovation, although their devices haven’t been as popular as the ones from LG and Samsung, their country neighbors. They were among the first with fingerprint scanners and buttons at the back and now they’re the first with a Snapdragon 810-based smartphone.

Last week the company debuted the Vega Iron 2 smartphone, that wasn’t exactly the 2K model expected, but now they are preparing such a bigshot. According to the South Korean media, the company is preparing a handset with a 2K display and a Snapdragon 810 new generation processor. This will actually be a phablet, with a 6 inch display and a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, while the CPU inside is a 64 bit octa core unit.

The Snapdragon 810 uses 20 nm technology and a quad core Cortex A57 structure, plus a Cortex A53 structure, in a dual quad core setup, plus the Adreno 418 GPU. This flagship will also feature a stylus and the “next gen Android OS”, which may be Android 4.5 or Android 5.0. We’ve still got some months to wait before this model hits the stores…
