It seems that one of the most popular devices released on the market lately, OnePlus One, arrived in the hands of the Forbes magazine. They managed to publish a pretty detailed review for this device. One of the main features of the phone is the price of just $300 for the 16GB version and that we get CyanogenMod out of the box.
Regarding the operating system, OnePlus One gets CyanogenMod 11S, an OS that is based on Android 4.42 KitKat. This one brings a lot of Google’s apps like Google Play, Gmail, Calendar, Google Plus, Google Cards, Music and Hangouts. Unlike other producers that brings a lot of useless apps, OnePlus decided that the essential is the one needed.
We also get some nice features like double-tap for unlock, or the torch function that it’s launched just by a simple draw of the “V” letter when the phone is in standby mode. We can open the camera app just by a gesture (circle), while a two-fingers swipe will pause or play the song open in the background.
While for some this kind of tweaks matter, for others specs are the most important thing when it comes to the aquistion of a new smartphone. OnePlus One comes with a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.45 GHz, 3 GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU. Yet, there are some shortcomings like the lack of a microSD card slot. As we may know, OnePlus One is available only in 16 or 64 GB versions.
Forbes says that even if the screen and the rest of the specs are top quality, the camera is that component where they had to make a compromise. This sensor is pretty average compared with other smartphones available on the market. Also, the speakers are a little bit disappointing when it comes to audio playback. There are some things writed by Forbes in this review that might show up in the process of buying a OnePlus One device. This flagship phone main problem is availability and the brand popularity on the market compared to other producers. You can read the whole review from Forbes right here.
