In the previous day, the Chinese chip maker MediaTek announced a new octa-core processor called MT6595. This new chip offers support for Quad HD displays, a 20 megapixel image signal-processor, H.265 Ultra HD video recording and playback, and a multi-mode wireless charging support.
MediaTek MT6595 features an ARM big.LITTLE architecture and offers four Cortex A7 cores and four Cortex A17 cores. We also gen a PowerVR Series6 GPU, LTE Cat. 9, Bluetooth LE and multi-GNSS (GPS, GLONASS). At the launch event, the guys from MobileGeeks.com managed to take a little video hands-on with the reference design of the MT6595.
This reference design offers a simplistic design that is made to show off the processing power without anything exceptional in terms of the design or build quality. The device packed a 5-inch Quad HD display, dual SIM slots, a microSD card slot, and a 20.7-megapixel Sony sensor.
Thanks to this new chip and with the Sony 20.7 megapixel sensor, we’ll be able to record 1080p videos at 480 fps with Super-Slow Motion effect. Among the presentation, MediaTek showed how powerfull is the new MT6595 processor. This CPU managed to get a 47.233 score in AnTuTu benchmark, a number even higher than the ones obtained by the current flagships on the market.
