Panasonic is starting to gain some ground in India, by debuting devices from the Eluga series locally. Those include the fresh arrival of the Panasonic Eluga U, that’s shown below and priced at a pretty decent $290.

This newcomer is available on eBay in India for that price, ahead of this week’s debut in the country. We’re dealing with a 5 inch 720p device with Gorilla Glass 3 protection, a 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 processor and Android 4.4 KitKat. There’s a 13 megapixel shooter at the back with LED flash and a 2 MP front facing camera. The phone uses Kwik Lock double tap on the homescreen to lock the phone and there’s also Fit Home UI for single hand use.

The interesting part here is that the design is pretty premium, with a glass back and also some very solid specs, like 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. There’s a microSD card slot on board, a 2500 mAh battery and dual SIM slots. The phone is 7.95 mm thick, weighs 141 grams and has FM radio with RDS, plus HSPA+ connectivity. There’s no 4G here, as far as I know and expect more Panasonic Eluga launches in India soon!
