Old operating systems on cool new mobile phones is a hot trend, since we’ve just seen Windows Mobile 3.1 on Nokia N95 and now here comes the iPhone with Mac System 7 (OS 7) on board. Just like the N95-based initiative, the MacOS iPhone Project relies on code from QEMU, an open source emulator created for such purposes.
Developers are still messing with the code as we speak, so we might be seeing more operating systems on various other handsets, but as far as the iPhone is concerned, we could bet that OS 7 only works on jailbroken units.
