Archos has just announced a new phablet, dubbed Archos 59 Titanium and packing a 5.9 inch screen. This model has very modest specs and we expect a sub 100 euro price to fit it. Archos has adapted itself to the latest trends and considering the Nexus 6 is also said to have a 5.9 inch display, it all makes sense.

The 59 Titanium features a LCD 5.9 inch screen with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels and a density of 166 ppi, which is very low. Other specs include a MediaTek MT8312 dual core processor, clocked at 1.3 GHz, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage. There’s 32 GB of extra storage via microSD, a 2600 mAh battery on board and a main 5 megapixel camera. This one is a dual SIM phone, but only compatible with 3G and 2G.

Archos 59 Titanium runs Android 4.4 KitKat and seems to have a nice custom video player. It uses capacitive buttons below the display and its main camera comes with LED flash, autofocus and 720p video capture. There’s a VGA front camera on board and the design reminds me of a tablet more than of a handset.
